OPENING OF MYKOLA AMOSOV LECTURE HALL

The renewed lecture hall No 1 in sanitary hygienic building was officially opened on 6, December, 2013 at University on the 100^th birthday of famous doctor-surgeon Mykola Mykhaylovych Amosov; that lecture hall was conferred with his name.

Daughter of Mykola Mykhaylovych doctor-cardiologist Kateryna Mykolayivna Amosova, who at present moment manages the department of internal medicine No 2 of the University, in her speech she emphasized that it is her duty to take care for preservation of memory about her father and she is very grateful to University administration at the head with academician V.F. Moskalenko for vigorous activity, as a result of which the lecture hall that will honor the memory about M.M. Amosov appeared among opened renewed lecture halls in the establishment.

Rector of University academician V.F. Moskalenko in his presentation about famous scientist emphasized that Bogomolets NMU is proud of its past and in particular of that page in its history when M.M. Amosov spent some years of his life at the University as the head at department of surgery (1953-1955).

Vitaliy Fedorovych mentioned that if to speak about Mykola Mykhaylovych Amosov as scientist, writer, public leader, academician, full member in NAS of Ukraine, first director in Kyiv scientific research institute of cardiovascular surgery, then the words “Human-legend” will be maximally successful. He is a famous surgeon, who was among the first ones in the Soviet Union that started making operations on the heart, established the Institute of cardiovascular surgery, he saved thousands people. Amosov was the author of brilliant books such as “Thoughts and heart” (translated into over thirty languages of the world). Mykola Mykhaylovych principally did not join to the Communist Party of the Soviet Union but received the star of Hero of Socialist Labor and was a deputy of Verkhovna Rada of USSR for 18 years. At the end of his life he challenged the old age, having made the experiment on continuation of life duration on himself.

Head at department of surgery No 2 professor O.Yu. Yoffe, which collective was the initiator for creation of book about M.M. Amosov, professor at department of anesthesiology and intensive therapy L.P. Chepkyy, who worked with M.M. Amosov for a long time, chairman in Students’ parliament Yu.V. Paskevych, writer Yu.G. Vilenskyy, O.P. Lavrenchuk also made the speeches.
