SIMULATIVE COURSES FOR INTERNS

The simulative courses on general anesthesia using super modern mannequin SimMan are held at department of surgery, anesthesiology and intensive care at postgraduate education of O.O. Bogomolets National medical university.

In order to master the art of anesthesia an intern shall not only learn much information in different spheres of medicine: anatomy, physiology, therapy, surgery, pharmacology, physics and many others. He/she shall still possess the numerous practical skills: vein puncture, preparation of anesthesia apparatus, measurement and interpretation of all physiological indices, provision with patency of airways (manually, by airways, laryngeal mask or intubation of trachea), installation of gastric tube and urinary catheter and others.

For a patient to be safe the conditions for qualitative performance of operative interference were established for surgeons, an intern shall master the competency that includes all that knowledge and abilities and to apply them according to the clinical situation at a concrete patient.

It is possible to check the readiness of an intern for independent work only after seeing how he/she makes the anesthesia. The use of the simulative mannequin instead of real patient allows modeling any clinical situation without any threat to patients. The simulative study is the safe way for qualitative practice-oriented postgraduate education, which is the top-priority direction in work of Institute for postgraduate education at O.O. Bogomolets NMU.

NEW COMPOSITION IN COUNCIL OF YOUNG SCIENTISTS AT MHC OF UKRAINE

The new composition in Council of young scientists at MHC of Ukraine, which was approved by order from MHC of Ukraine No 734, dd. 9, November, 2015, was presented during enlarged meeting of Scientific medical council at Ministry of health care of Ukraine on 16, February, 2016.

The Council of young scientists at MHC of Ukraine works as a consulting authority of Ministry of health care of Ukraine according to the Provisions about MHC of Ukraine, approved by decree from Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, dd. 25, March, 2015 No 267 and Law of Ukraine “On scientific and scientific technical activity”, in order to discuss the most important managerial decisions about reformation and development of medical science, improvement of quality in scientific researches, integration of educational and scientific process that are implemented at higher schools and scientific research institutions of MHC of Ukraine. The composition of management bodies was elected at the establishing current meeting of Council of young scientists at MHC of Ukraine by democratic and open way and the persons, responsible for separate directions in development and cooperation, were agreed.

In particular, they elected Candidate of Medicine Nataliia Kufterina (Kharkiv national medical university) to the post of Chairman in Council, Candidate of Medicine Bohdan Bozhuk (O.O. Bohomolets National medical university) and Volodymyr Novoshytskyy (P.L. Shupyka National medical academy of postgraduate education as deputies, Stanislav Stavytskyy (Ukrainian medical dental academy) as the secretary.

The Council also approved the operative work Plan for current year, defined the main directions for activity, sections due to the directions of work and agreed the current organizational issues. Young scientists from a number of delegates also undertook to master the experience and communications with scientific youth organizations at NAMS and NAS of Ukraine, MES of Ukraine.

Let’s mention that the chosen new vector and format for cooperation of elective consulting bodies anticipates the wider involvement of public and establishment of conditions for transparency and improvement of motivation for scientists from all levels.

ALL-UKRAINIAN STUDENTS’ OLYMPIAD IN SOCIAL MEDICINE

ABOUT PERFORMANCE OF THE I STAGE IN ALL-UKRAINIAN STUDENTS’ OLYMPIAD IN SOCIAL MEDICINE

According to the order from MES of Ukraine No 1247, dd. 27, November, 2015 and pursuant to the order from O.O. Bogomolets NMU No 908, dd. 18, December, 2015 the department for organization of health care and social medicine on 12, February, 2016 performed the 1st stage in all-Ukrainian students’ Olympiad (USO) in academic discipline “social medicine and organization of health care” among students of medical (pharmaceutical) and classical universities.

The participants in the 1st stage of USO were 13 students, who have the excellent and good marks in academic discipline, are members in club and dream to associate their future professional fate with the organization of health care and management. Among those ones, who competed for the right to represent O.O. Bogomolets NMU in the 2nd stage of USO, there were the students of IV-VI courses, representatives from medical faculties No 1, 2 and 4, and mainly females.

The tasks of the 1st stage in USO anticipated the tests, situational tasks and creative task in preparation of visual material in relation to the topic of World Health Day 2016. The authoritative jury performed the assessment for solution of tasks from theoretical and practical direction by students, as well as the results from creative contest.

All participants in the 1st stage of USO made good work of the tasks, and three most successful students will be recommended to the 2nd stage of Olympiad.

The following persons made speeches to the participants in the 1st stage of USO: head at department, professor T.S. Gruzeva, professors and assistant professors, as well as the newly elected Chairman in A.O. Kysil students’ scientific society, student S.I. Nikolayenko.

All participants in the 1st stage of USO were awarded with the copy of Eastern European journal of public health for 2015 with publications of materials by WHO, WHO ERB, scientific articles on social medical topics.

TEACHERS AT DEPARTMENT FOR ORGANIZATION OF HEALTH CARE TOOK PART IN WORK OF INTERDEPARTMENTAL WORK GROUP

On 9, February, 2016 the teachers at department for organization of health care and social medicine at O.O. Bohomolets NMU took part in meeting of interdepartmental work group in MES of Ukraine on implementation of joint project by WHO Bureau in Ukraine and Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency “NID: prevention and promotion of health in Ukraine”. 

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of director in Department of public health S. Ostashko and manager of Project “NID (non-infectious diseases): prevention and promotion of health in Ukraine” at WHO Bureau in Ukraine D. McVinny.

The project is directed to support the initiatives in the context of National actions plan for implementation and realization of principles from European policy “Health – 2020: the basis for European policy to support the actions by state and society in the interests of health and wealth” as to NID for the period until 2020.
